This is a Neotropical Species
found in Central America to Southern Brazil.
The wingspan is 2 1/2 to 3 1/4 inches.
Most Helicons have very bad tasting body fluids.
Predators are alerted to this by the butterflies
bright colors.
There is great variety of coloration and markings
within this species making identification difficult.
