Marsh Observation Platform

Open Marsh

The Marsh Observation Trail takes you out to an overlook. This is great for bird watching in the vast open marsh below. Corkscrew workers set up high magnification binoculars all along the trail on known bird nests.

This appears to be the ground but it is actually swamp waters completely covered by mall aquatic plants known as Duckweed, aquatic ferns, and various others.

As we near the Area called the Lettuce Lakes, the trail begins to open up. You also begin to hear the bellowing deep calls of the alligators !

Baby Alligator

Here is a sun bathing baby alligator resting on an aquatic Water Lettuce Plant. Whenever you see baby, momma alligator is close by !
